Internet
by Russ Huguleypublished onThis is the router device we use for internet. It can take a sim card as well for cell service.

It comes with two smaller antennas that work pretty well. We also have a directional panel antenna that we can put on a flag pole.
There were some comments that this antenna is not waterproofed very well and I have seen some odd behaviour out of it that makes me think that could be the case. I am going to take it apart sometime and see if I can see any issues. The dual antennas do make a HUGE difference in some cases. The best case we saw our speed more than double to 40 megabit down.
This is the flag pole we use.
I only extend up one section and that is enough to get it above our ACs and keep it from being so bendy. Extending it out more causes it to sway in the breeze which is what you want from a flagpole but not so much for an antenna mast. You could probably do something cheaper with pvc pipe.

Prior to getting the cellular we used a ubiquiti bullet with various antennas to get the parks wifi. I have not hooked it up since getting the cellular internet. but I still have it and the mofi device does have an ethernet gateway port I can hook it to if I need it. The nice thing about the Bullet is that it is powered over the ethernet cable so you only need one cable. Its NOT poe like from an ethernet switch. You need a POE injector that takes DC in and runs it over the ethernet cable.
The Bullet will work on anything from around 9 volts to 24 volts so the 12v from the RV works well. I was only able to get a couple of years out of the bullet before it got wet inside and stopped working. So not the best waterproofing and if I was going to use it again I would probably put some silicone on it to help seal it up.
The bullet is much more convenient as you can just login to the wifi once and then all of your devices can use it. The omni directional antenna we used most of the time.
The directional panel antenna we used if the wifi was further away.
I also had a yagi antenna that I hooked up to see if it worked but have never actually used it for getting internet.
